Supporting Veteran-Owned and Local Businesses this Veterans Day and Small Business Week

As we approach Veterans Day and National Small Business Week, it’s a great time to reflect on the importance of supporting our local community, especially our veteran-owned businesses. Our veterans have made tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedoms, and many have returned home to start businesses that contribute to the strength and resilience of our local economy. This year, I encourage everyone in our community to shop local and show appreciation for the dedication of veteran entrepreneurs who continue to serve our country in new ways—through business ownership.

Year-End Business Tips

As we near the end of the year, it’s also time to start thinking about year-end tax preparation. Here are a few tips to help ensure your business is in good shape before 2025:

  1. Review Your Financial Statements: Make sure your income and expenses are accurately recorded.
  2. Organize Receipts and Documents: Gather all tax-related documents, such as receipts, invoices, and payroll records.
  3. Consult a Tax Professional: Get ahead by working with a CPA or tax advisor who can help you make strategic decisions for year-end deductions.
  4. Invest in Business Growth: Consider end-of-year purchases or investments that can benefit your business, as these may be deductible.

As your local SBDC Director, I am here to support you through these processes and more. Let’s work together to build a stronger community of businesses and support our veterans, entrepreneurs, and local economy.  I also want to personally thank each of you for your commitment to our local businesses and your continued support.  Your dedication strengthens this community, and I am proud to be part of such an inspiring network of entrepreneurs. Let’s keep working together to build a brighter future for all.
